Postdoctoral Associate
The Nichol Group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Rochester seeks applications for a postdoctoral research associate. We are a leading research group in the field of quantum information processing with semiconductor quantum dots. We are looking for a creative, self-motivated researcher who has the ability and interest to pursue exciting and challenging problems in spin qubits, many-body quantum coherence, quantum transduction, and related areas.  The ideal candidate will have:

  • completed a PhD in physics or a related field,
  • experience with cryogenics, including dilution refrigerators,
  • experience with microfabrication and nanofabrication, including electron beam lithography, and
  • good communication and teamwork skills.

To apply, applicants should submit their CV, a brief statement of research interests, and arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to John Nichol (john.nichol@rochester.edu). Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Graduate students
The Nichol Group has openings for graduate students. Prospective graduate students should apply to the UR Department of Physics and Astronomy. Current Rochester graduate students are welcome to contact John to discuss research interests. Please consult our lab manual for more information about the group.

Undergraduate students
We are always looking for motivated and talented undergraduate researchers. Interested undergrads are welcome to work in the lab. Contact John if you are interested, and consult the lab manual for more information about the group. Possible projects include:

  • Nanofabrication
  • Electronics fabrication
  • Quantum simulation
  • Software development
