The MiSo Lab launched in summer 2023, and we are continuing to grow! Our team values and practices diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we prioritize transparency and collaborative work.
Undergraduate Research Assistants
Undergraduate research assistants are welcomed as important and valued members of the MiSo Lab community. No prior research experience is necessary! To help you get the most out of your research experience and training, we ask for a minimum 2-semester time commitment. Students can earn up to 4 course credits per semester working in the lab.
Applications for the fall ’24 – spring ’25 academic year are open! Please complete this Google Form. We will begin reviewing applications on September 4th.
PhD Students
Graduate students play an essential role in our lab, making meaningful contributions to research projects, ideas, and lab culture and receiving close mentorship and training. Rochester itself is a vibrant, medium-sized city with lots of nature, art, and music. There is a strong sense of community, and there is always something to do—from fall and spring festivals, the Rochester Public Market, and theaters to parks, bars, and artsy cafes.
Dr. Heck will be accepting graduate students to begin in the fall of 2025. Please reach out to Dr. Heck (isobel.a.heck@rochester.edu) to learn more about research, the lab, or Rochester at any time.
